I'm Back with the Jump Off: FALL FASHION

Oh my lovlies!!! How could I? I am so sorry about my extended absense just as things were getting started, but I have all kinds of great ideas in store for you. First off, it is fall and there is just so much going on in the world of fashion...we have mucho to discuss.

Fall marks the beginning of the fashion year and do not think I could pick a better time to get back into the swing of things on here. So I picked...a romantic evening with your favorite boy (or a new boy!). Check it out:

Topshop at ShopStyle

This lace dress is gorgeous; it falls somewhere in between naive and completely alluring. Pair it with black opaque tights to tone down the lace factor. Pile on a tweed boyfriend blazer and this lovely clutch. These Steve Madden - Tyller (Black Suede) - Footwear boots are a perfect complement to the dress....mmm lace and suede, how delicious. Now get out there and enjoy a night out with your man!

Invite: Engagement Party

For better or worse, it is wedding season. That means not only will we inevitably be attending some wedding celebrations this spring and summer, but we may also be invited to an engagement party. I don't know about you, but my first thought is: what do I wear? To be honest, I have been to one of these parties before. Luckily for me, it was winter and I threw on black pants, a shimmery top and no one was the wiser. Something about spring makes people care about fashion just a little more. However, we must be careful of the #1 rule of wedding etiquette. NEVER attempt to show up the bride. This goes for the wedding, the bridal shower, and yes, the engagement party. So, the theme for this party will be cute, but casual.

Let's start with this cashmere sweater in bright yellow. It looks so fun, especially on blonds! To make it even more irresistible, it is on sale for $50 from $128. Pair it with a printed skirt like this vintage one for a sweet, but not overdone look.

These wedges will make your legs look a mile long and the natural color goes with any outfit. Add a clutch and floral studs...now get out there and toast the happy couple!

Solution for the Weekend What to Wear

Hooray for Friday! While I relish the weekend, I always have problems putting together an outfit for Saturday errands. I heard that Paris Hilton once said: "The only rule is don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in." We should listen to her here, gals! Stop slouching around in your LL Bean and running shoes...put some thought into your weekend wear!!

This hoodie is a good base for running errands or taking a long walk when you don't want to bundle up in a jacket. Plus, it's on sale for $48! To glam it up, skip the boring old running shoes and throw on some metallic sneakers instead. Now we're talking...

So maybe you don't have a long day of errands ahead of you or maybe you want to look extra cute because you'll be shopping or meeting someone for lunch. Problem solved! Start with some black or dark skinny jeans and a v-neck white tee. Remember those hot Aldo shoes I wrote about last week? Yeah, you're going to get a lot of use out of those! Top the look off with a cardigan like this one (on sale for $29!), but you should probably leave all but the top button undone. Accessorize with aviators and a special pendant necklace - you're ready!

Spring Accessory Madness

Just in case you are not aware, the color this season is tangerine. Some of us fair gals have a hard time pulling it off head to toe, so I am looking for pieces of tangerine to splash into my wardrobe. Couture in the City to the rescue! Their fashion blog identified the perfect Dooney & Bourke nylon bag for this purpose.

And now for something ridiculously hot: these Aldo shoes. Wowza. It is no secret that my boyfriend is in a band and I am constantly thinking of what I am going to wear to his next show...these would be perfect with skinny jeans, a sheer flowy top and maybe a vintage fringe bag.

Speaking of vintage and fringe bags, the next thing you should do after reading this post is check out this Buffy Sainte-Marie Bag and the rest of the ModCloth website. It will change your life. This $50 bag is just what I was picturing to top off my rocker girl outfit. Am I really ending another post with a rocker chic moment?

My first post...inspired by Target

Wow...I am so psyched to finally do this! I am here to share with you all of my fashion finds and insight. This blog is an outlet for me, a fun hobby, and hopefully a resource for others!
Let's just dive right in: this recession is affecting people beyond our wildest dreams, but we still need to meet our basic needs. We should not feel that we have to look frumpy at the office or out with friends. I am constantly looking for pieces that are affordable but still exude a sense of style. That is all I will say about the recession..."it" infiltrates enough of my life as it is and this blog is a place for topics more worthy of conversation.

I have been particularly encouraged by Target's selection lately. Check out this top:

This Merona blouse is perfect for the office - just pair it with a brown pencil skirt and you are ready for a spring day...it really is gorgeous. We know florals and tie necks are all over the place this season and at $25, this is a great deal.

So maybe you want to dress this top down -- pair with dark jeans and these Restricted patent flats:

Hot hot hot! These flats will come in handy for several ocassions this spring, most notably Easter Sunday with a proper black or navy dress. The unexpected color of the flats will be just what your outfit needs...oh yes, and they are on sale for $40.

Also on my trip to Target I found an off-white rock 'n' roll scarf with a black star print by Converse. I couldn't find the same one online, but here is another by the same label and for the same price - $17. This would look fab with skinny jeans, clearly, and a black or grey off the shoulder light sweater. Rock on!
